Natural gas market opening as of January 2015

The Law on energy implies the natural gas market opening as of January 2015. The right to public gas supplying will be enabled only for households and small natural gas buyers, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce announced.

The Ministry of mining and energy of Serbia, the Energy Agency and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce I cooperation with the Vojvodina Chamber of Commerce and regional business chambers of Nis, Pancevo, Subotica will organize a number of events with the topic “Natural gas market liberalization” so that suppliers, public suppliers and buyers of natural gas would timely meet with legal obligations.

At these meetings, they will discuss the legal framework for market functioning, obligations of operators of transport and distribution system, obligations of suppliers and public suppliers of natural gas as well as obligations of natural gas buyers at free market.

The first meeting will be held October 24, 2014 at the Regional chamber of commerce Nis. Five meetings more are planned during the next month and the final discussion will be held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

The Law on ratification of the contract on the setup of the Energy community, Serbia obliged to align legislation framework and set up the natural gas market which will function in line with the EU standards and rules.
