There are 20 million people in the world who do their business according to the principle of franchising, and there is a change for that principle to enter the market of Serbia again and become stimulus for small and mid-sized enterprises. This has been pointed out at the First conference on franchising, organized by the American Ministry of Trade and the Embassy of USA to Belgrade, American Chamber of Commerce to Serbia and the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.
American Ambassador to Serbia, Michael Polt, who opened this conference, pointed out that that business relation represented great opportunity for quicker economic development of Serbia.
- As far as surrounding countries are concerned, Hungary already hosts more than 100 franchisers, while there are less than 20 of them in Serbia. Among the first were "McDonald’s", "Diners Club" ... There are about 80,000 small stores and newsstands in Serbia and there is no chance that all of them survive in the time when the big ones “swallow” their jobs. One of the safe variants is franchising, which can bring better business concept, better organization, image and higher and safe profit - Slobodan Milosavljević, the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, pointed out.
Franchising is, let us remind, the contracting relation that gives the right to the receiver of the franchise to operate under the name of certain company by using knowledge and methods developed by that company. Therefore, it is considered that the one who takes franchise has much easier job, because he gets goods, working technology, marketing, he takes brand and trademark, while all he needs to provide are working space and workers.
