One Step Closer to Procurement of Fast Trains from China – Government Forms Work Group for Negotiations with CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles

The Government of Serbia has adopted the decision on the forming of the work group for the deliberation and providing suggestions, opinions and expert explanations about the proposal of the commercial agreement on the procurement of means of transport from the company CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles.

The trains are procured for the needs of the local company Srbija Voz.

The president of the work group is Anita Dimoski, the acting deputy minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, and the deputy is her colleague Milomir Djurovic.

The members of the work group, of which there are 13, are representatives of the ministries of construction and finance and the companies Srbija Voz, Serbian Railways Infrastructure, and the Directorate for Railways.

Expert and administrative-technical support to the work group will be provided by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

Let us remind that, back in early 2021, Serbia signed the memorandum with China Railway International and CRRC Corporation Limited. This agrees the cooperation and sets the basis for the potential procurement of electric-engine trains that run at 200 km/h, for the purposes of organization of passenger traffic on the future Belgrade Center-Novi Sad-Subotica high-speed railway.

The prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, stated in March this year that Serbia was negotiating with Chinese partners about the procurement of up to 5 new fast trains.
