The Bratoljub Bridge on the Drina, which connects Ljubovija and Bratunac, that is, Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, is most likely to open to traffic in early August. Srdjan Rankic, the head of the municipality of Bratunac, says for Novosti that he got the information from the contractor on the left bank of the Drina that the representatives of the commission for the acceptance of the works from Serbia and the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH would come to inspect the structure within the next two weeks.

– Then, if needed, the potential complaints are to be addressed and the bridge is to open to traffic to the delight of us all – says Rankic, pointing out that they are cooperating very well with the Municipality of Ljubovija and its president, Milan Jovanovic, and that other important projects with them are to follow, as part of the cross-border cooperation.

He adds that this primarily pertains to the industrial zone which will be located in close proximity to the bridge.

Serbia finished the bridge back in 2017. The BiH authorities were obliged to prepare access roads and buildings for border control and the staff from both states on the left bank of the Drina. A lot of time was lost due to political games, but now it is certain that the finishing works are in progress.
